The Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC) established in 1974 is the global materials research centre for Xerox Corporation. Over our 40 years plus history, we have continued to deliver world-class material solutions for Xerox. As the company evolved to meet the ever changing market requirements, XRCC has also changed and grown in our scope.  In the last couple of years, XRCC extended our materials research design, development, evaluation, scale-up and delivery capabilities to external companies and created our Client Services Business.

To demonstrate our commitment to delivering high quality products and services to our customers, XRCC pursued improving our operational processes and recently obtained ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification, certificate number FS 665220, on June 19, 2017 from BSI Canada as the registrar.  The scope and provisions of our Quality Management System (QMS) applies to the development and supply of specialty chemical products and services for internal and external clients. The products and services include; commercial electronic materials, Xerox materials supply, research, development and engineering services and analytical and characterization services.

Many companies that are ISO 9001:2015 certified are manufacturing companies who demonstrate the high quality of their management processes to deliver products / services to their customers. It is less common for a traditional, corporate owned research center like XRCC, to qualify for such a standard. Generally, research centres do not want to invest their time and money into obtaining such a lofty goal.  With the growth of our Client Service Business at XRCC this became a very important goal for the center with the entire staff participating in the implementation of the QMS requirements. Lead by our Center Manager, Dr. Paul Smith and our Quality Champion, Dr. Karen Moffat with the senior leadership team and every member of the research staff we have all embraced this process to improve how we work.

The benefits of meeting the international ISO 9001:2015 QMS requirements for XRCC are many. It helps our external and internal Client Services Business processes become more efficient, enable higher productivity and improve customer satisfaction with the ongoing emphasis on continual improvement. This can lead to repeat businesses, new clients, and broaden the business of our organization into new markets.

In summary, XRCC is committed to continually improving our working relationship with our existing customers and creating new relationships with new clients through our Client Services Business to build stronger partnerships with them.
