Printed Electronics Lab

Our work resides at the intersection of printed electronics
and 3D printing.

We continue to push the envelope to produce unconventional objects by printing both form and function together. Our Ink Formulation team works closely with our Printed Technology and Applications teams to formulate inks that have the required printing and substrate latitude to address our client’s target application areas. We have developed a broad range of materials from conductive inks to semiconducting polymers, organic dielectric materials and more.

Our print lab is equipped with piezo inkjet printers (Dimatix, Xerox, PixDro LP50), Optomec Aerosol Jet printers (ultrasonic and pneumatic atomization) and flexographic/gravure proofing presses. The lab’s Aerosol Jet printers have been paired with high precision, robotic motion control to enable printing of functional device elements onto conformal surfaces.

Our 3D printing capabilities include equipment for fused deposition modelling (FDM), paste extrusion, stereolithography (SLA), and selective laser sintering (SLS). We are also home to a wide array of characterization equipment for the physical, mechanical, electrical and chemical analysis of our printed objects and devices.
