XRCC Timeline of Innovation

Federal Minister of Industry, Trade and Commerce, Alistair Gillespie, recommends that all companies operating in Canada have a product creation presence. C. Peter McCollough, CEO of Xerox, and Jack Goldman, Head of Research, respond by creating the Xerox Research Centre of Canada.
XRCC is founded (Initial members begin work in June).
Laser Fingerprint Detection: XRCC scientists, in conjunction with OPP, discover and develop fingerprint detection methods, later to be adopted by the OPP, FBI, and police services around the world.
XRCC begins to employ Industrial Research Fellows who are funded through Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC).
First patent issued
The first process is completed in the Pilot Plant: An intermediate for a photoreceptor pigment.

Canada 150 logo printed with XCM-nsPA1 Xerox Silver Nanoparticle Pneumatic Aerosol Jet ® Ink

The logo is composed of a series of diamonds arranged in the shape of the iconic maple leaf. The four diamonds at the base represent the four original provinces that formed Confederation in 1867: Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. Additional diamonds extend out from the base to create nine more points – in total representing the 13 provinces and territories.
To commemorate Canada’s 150th birthday, we’ve printed the official Canada 150 logo in Xerox Silver Nanoparticle Ink. Developed at the Mississauga-based Xerox Research Centre of Canada, our proprietary silver ink has paved the way for low-cost, reliable, and quickly produced circuits that can be printed on virtually any surface, including plastic and fabric. These materials have important applications for ‘smart objects’, sensors, printed and wearable electronics, and the Internet of Everything.
